Disclaimer: I am not a doctor, or otherwise a medical professional. I am also not a parent.
And I can't, naturally, give medical advice about anyone's specific problem over the net. I have
tried to record sources of information for my own FAQs, and dates when I last updated things.
Be sure to bear sources in mind when evaluating the quality of any medical information you see
at this site.
Editorial Policy: For the misc.kids Childhood Vaccinations FAQ, I reserved two sections for
open comment. These are Q1.9 What are some sources of further information about
vaccinations?, where I have included the sources which I had found useful in writing the FAQ, but
also (with attribution to the person making the recommendation) any sources which any reader of the
FAQ considered useful, without editing these in any way for content. The second is the
Section 5. Stories of Parents section, in which I include
stories submitted to me by parents about their decisions about vaccinations and experiences with
vaccinations, expressing a variety of opinions on a variety of grounds. For other sections of the
FAQ, my aim has been to collect information about the risks and benefits from a variety of
sources, with emphasis on evidence which can be backed up by scientific studies, and to be
careful in attributing my sources.
The Prenatal Testing FAQs likewise include both medically oriented sections, in which I tried
to collect information which could be supported by medical references, and stories in which parents
describe their own personal decisions. Because of the sensitive nature of this particular decision,
the contributions from parents are anonymous except where I have received explicit permission to
include a name.
For all these FAQs, I sought, and got, medical professionals to review the first drafts, but subsequent
updates have not received review by medical professionals, and errors are, in any case, my own
responsibility.
The rest of the site includes links to sites and FAQs by other people which looked useful to me.
Some of these are by medical professionals, and others by lay people, and some are more oriented
toward conveying medical information, while others are more oriented toward mutual support. Over
time I plan to add more detail on the content of the various sites to which I have links.
The Baby Center links on the site are there as part of an affiliate agreement; the others are unpaid.
